The Elim Kids Ministry relies on servant-hearted people to help our programs and events be a success. Serving is such a rewarding experience for both the volunteer and the children who benefit from their time and attention.
Look through the serving descriptions below so you have a better idea of what each team or role looks like. We are excited to help you find a fantastic spot to serve on the Elim Kids Team!
ELIM KIDS SERVING DESCRIPTIONS:

NURSERY PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Check-In & Welcome
Greet parents warmly and assist with the check-in process.
Ensure all children are signed in and have visible name tags.
Communicate clearly with parents about any special needs, feeding instructions, or allergies.
2. Care & Play
Provide a safe and loving environment.
Engage children through gentle play-singing, reading books, stacking toys, or tummy-time
Offer comfort and affection through cuddles, rocking, and reassuring words.
Assist with handing out supplies
Ensure all allergy and safety guidelines are followed.
Only feed bottles or snacks provided by parents and labeled with the child's name.
Begin tidying toys and sanitizing surfaces before parents arrive.
Return all supplies to their proper place and confirm the room is clean for the next service.

AGES 2-5 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet families warmly at the door
Ensure name tags are visible and all children are signed in properly.
Help new families feel welcomed and confident leaving their child.
Engage kids through play
Encourage sharing, kindness, and safety during playtime.
3. Worship & Lesson Time
Help transition to the worship and
Bible lesson area.Sit with children and model participation during songs, motions, and story time.
4. Craft & Snack Time
Assist with handing out supplies
Engage kids in conversation about the lesson while they work
Ensure all allergy and safety guidelines are followed.
5. Closing Play & Clean-Up
Supervise children as they return to free play after craft and snack time.
Begin tidying toys and cleaning surfaces before dismissal.
Help ensure the room is clean, organized, and ready for the next service.

TEACHER PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Classroom Leadership
Lead the classroom and create a safe, welcoming environment.
Communicate expectations and oversee transitions.
Ensure volunteers understand their roles.
2. Teaching & Discipleship
Teach or facilitate the lesson provided.
Help children engage with God's Word.
Model Christ-like attitudes and behaviour.
3. Attendance & Safety
Ensure attendance is completed accurately.
Maintain classroom ratios and supervision requirements.
Complete incident and injury reports when required.
4. Team Support
Delegate tasks and support volunteers.
Encourage and develop Junior Volunteers.
Foster teamwork and positive communication.

K- GR. 5'S PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Play with Purpose
Arrive early and sign in
Engage kids through table games, colouring, or sports
Help kids feel welcomed and included
2. Line-Up & Transitions
kids line up by grade and gender

Maintain order and smooth transitions
3. Large Group (Worship & Teaching)
Sit with your small group and support a distraction-free environment
Provide crowd control, bathroom/water runs, and supervision as needed

Lead kids in prayer, discussion, crafts, and worksheet activities
Build relationships and intentionally engage every child

Team Leads Primary Responsibilities (must be 18+)
1. VOLUNTEER CARE & SUPPORT
Build relationships with volunteers and check in regularly.
Encourage, support, and celebrate team members.
Help create a positive and welcoming team culture.
2. Classroom & Team Oversight
Support assigned classrooms and volunteers.
Assist with attendance, transitions, behaviour concerns, and volunteer shortages.
Help ensure classrooms run safely and smoothly.
3. Leadership Development
Encourage volunteers and help identify future leaders.
Support and train Junior and New Volunteers.
Create opportunities for volunteers to grow in leadership.
4. Communication & Follow-Up
Serve as the first point of contact for volunteer questions and concerns.
Complete classroom observations and evaluations as requested.
Meet with ministry leadership to discuss classroom health, volunteer development, and ministry needs.

BUDDY PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Check-In & Welcome
Greet your buddy at the check in desk.
Talk with their family about their week as you follow them to the child's classroom.
Help the child transition into the room in a gentle, supportive way.
2. Play & Engagement
Provide calm, purposeful play and encourage the child to engage and play with the other children and items around them.
Use patience, gentleness and adapted strategies to help the child through their time with us.
3. Support
Participate with children in worship and Bible story time.
Support the teacher and child and provide adaptation or guidance as needed.
4. Breaks & Regulation Support
Use calming tools such as weighted items, fidgets, quiet corners, rocking chairs, or floor play.
Maintain a peaceful, predictable atmosphere.

WELCOME TEAM PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Greeting & Hospitality
Warmly greet every family arriving at Elim Kids
Offer assistance and create a welcoming, friendly first impression
Answer basic questions with clarity and confidence
2. Check-In Support
Help new families register and complete check-in
Ensure children receive the correct name tags and security tags
Direct families to their classrooms and explain pick-up procedures
Escort new families if needed so they feel supported

SET UP/TEAR DOWN TEAM PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. In Between Services
Reset/put away games in the gym
Ensure games are put away and stored properly in the resource room
Collect all forgotten/lost items and bring them to the welcome desk.
• Reset auditorium chairs.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer helper for Nursery, Preschool, or K-Gr5 please complete the Sunday Morning Volunteer Interest Form.
TEEN VOLUNTEERS (11-17)
An important compliment to our volunteer base are the teens who help out with programs. Teen Volunteer opportunities are important for every aspect of our ministry to kids.
To show your interest in becoming a Teen Volunteer on Sunday Mornings, please complete the Under 18 Volunteer Interest Form.
STEP 2+3 | Safety & Training
In order to ensure the safety and of our children and all our Elim Kids volunteers, it is required for all individuals to undergo a criminal record check. We also require that our volunteers attend our Policies and Procedures training sessions that cover all safety policies.

Fill out the Criminal Record Check Form. If you are an adult (18+) don’t forget your 2 pieces of ID as well.
